Maria Paschalidou works with photography and video performance in the form of the installation. She has focused on the expanded uses of the photographic medium, the video narratives and audiences’ participation. Her creative projects blur the boundaries between ‘real’ and ‘unreal’, the space among fiction, image and narrative by employing ‘visual’ metaphors, fabricated environments, ephemeral constructions and participatory installations.
She has participated in exhibitions, festivals and art projects in Europe, US, Canada, Russia, Australia, China and South East Asia.
Her research interests include initiatives for collaborative projects and participative acts in art as well as activities that challenge dichotomies such as artist-audience, image-language, theory-praxis.
