In Under Represented Locations, I am interested in documenting these architectural parts and structures of the contemporary city that usually remain unseen despite their significance in the constitution of the city geography. These parts are usually the backsides of the buildings, hidden balconies with external storage spaces, terraces and roofs with heat accumulators, solar heaters, TV antennas and plates. I take all these photographs in various neighborhoods of the city of Athens and I accompany them with sounds and noises existing at the specific moment of their taking. URL combines further 'real' and 'unreal' components enforced by digital interventions into the initial photographs/documents. By transforming and/or adding 'unreal' elements and scenes into the pictures, my purpose is to intervene in the architectural body of the city, to disturb its continuity and solidity and convey finally sympathy and tenderness for those "filthy" and "ugly" parts of the city, which are usually disregarded. I started working on URL one year ago when I moved back from Chicago to Athens. The project holds my personal visual and audio notes while I am rediscovering the city after six years of absence.
